Meeting the Mayor of the community that has been a home to our Schliersee-Fellows for the past two and a half months had been a long-awaited event! This week the Mayor of Bayrischzell found time to welcome 13 excited Fellows together with Markus and Gitti in his office for two very interesting hours. Main part of the meeting was not only the information about the community Bayrischzell and the impressions this Bavarian village has made on our Fellows but also the exchange with the youth of the area. Questions from “Why are young Germans not interested in politics?” to “How important is environmental protection for you and how do you learn about it?” were discussed with pupils from local schools and thereby once more fostered the goal of intercultural exchange.
But also the other project goal is nearly accomplished: the farmhouse receives its finishing touches these days and is very close to completion – the many days of peeling wood now pay off! The final weekend of the project will therefore of course be used to celebrate what the Fellows together with Markus and all the workers at the museum achieved during the past months. Many plans for the final weekend are currently made by Fellows and D&F alike – for sure it will be another intercultural celebration ranging from Bavarian Schuhplattler to Nepalese songs.
